Overview
This course brings together elements from the equality, diversity, and inclusion workshops. However, it's focus is very much on understanding ourselves and what motivates us. It explores culture, bias, assumptions and asks the question Why? Why did I make that assumption? Why do I accept this stereotype and yet I reject that one? Why did I ask that question? (Microaggression) or use this type of language? Why did this "trigger" me? It explores ways to enrich our understanding of ourselves and be better able to interact effectively with others.
Course Aims
Create a safe learning environment to explore the question: What is identity, and why we are the way we are.
Understand what is meant by "Culture"?
How Authentic leaders embrace Cultural Competence.
How to create a collaborative climate
How to create an environment where Open Communication can flourish.
How we can foster better understanding and appreciation of difference.
How actions and behaviours can avoid misunderstanding and improve cross cultural interactions.
