Overview

This course is designed specifically to help managers recognise the common mental health issues that can affect workers and to help them Improve confidence.  By encouraging open conversations around mental health in the workplace, managers will be able to better support staff, reduce presenteeism and help manage sickness absence. 

Course Aims

Create a safe learning environment to have an open conversation around mental health at work.Provide a framework for understanding the most common mental health issues and how they might surface in the workplace.Give managers confidence to begin and maintain conversations about mental healthEmpower managers in to build supported, motivated, and committed teams.Help managers understand the boundaries and limitations.
Discuss primary interventions or, how to keep employees well at work and in work.

Course Content

Overview of Equality Act 2010 as it applies to mental healthWhat are the common types of mental health conditions.  Ways managers can support good mental health in the workplace and explore issues around why mental health is not discussed at workHow managers can start and maintain conversations about mental health.Practical ways managers can support a colleague, promoting a healthy workplace.
Examine why workplace adjustments are sometimes needed and what is meant by an adjustment.
Primary and secondary interventions.  Where to sign post employees for external support.
