Overview

This course includes the important information you will need in order to meet accessible information standards.  It will also provide you with the tools needed to create accessible and inclusive documents and online communications. 
This course also explores the question of "What is inclusive communication", "Why it matters" and explains the "Business Case for Accessibility."

Course Aims

To explore, what is "Inclusive communication?"
Examine the principles of Inclusive Communication
To make the Business Case for Accessibility
Review Legal requirements and definitions.
How to effectively ask people if they have any information or communication needs and find out how to meet their needs.
How to record needs clearly and in a set way

How to create Accessible Documents
How to create Easy Read/ Writing Plain Language Documents
Making Word documents or PowerPoint presentations
accessible, including correct implementation of
Text alternatives for graphics.Exporting to other files formats such as PDF and what needs to be considered in order to maintain accessibility.
Website accessibility - Not just about "Alt tags".
Captioning online videos
Providing MS word versions of existing programmes for users of screen readers
Commissioning Audio Descriptions of information
Offering BSL interpretation for users.
